tommy mottola is doing some work for artists some of whom are popular at this moment;
i think Connard murray is in the process of trial, no final outcome is decided yet, which means
he is still considered as a suspect in MJ's case, therefore his license remains valid.

nothing happened to American law;
the issue is that  judging a person takes time; however it is not a short period of time,
it might take a few months or years for the court to do that,
there are the rules or principles for people to follow,
also court needs to select the juries from American citizens, but i think this is not easy
to select, because MJ is a celebrity, and everyone knows him and eveyone takes different
positions in this case, thus the law must make sure that everyone has neutral opinion and
no one could go beyond the balance  and then give a just result to Connard Murray.
This is to make justice fair.
