1991年11月，Jermaine Jackson的一首单曲“Word to the Badd!”从洛杉矶KPWR录音室中泄露出来。DJ们开始不停地把这首歌曲和MJ当时的新单曲“Black or White”轮流在广播中播放。这首歌的歌词中的歌词毫无遮掩地对MJ进行攻击。其中的这段： Reconstructed Been abducted Don't know who you are... Reid 和 Babyface而发火，因为他们为MJ的Dangerous做制作而延误了他的新专辑的发行。Jermaine没有和MJ在电话中联系上无法解决延误的事情，他想要得到和MJ的一样的他们对专辑的重视。 歌曲在电台播放的第二天早上，MJ就到Hayvenhurst问事情的原由。与一些报道相反，MJ 没有和他的哥哥动武责问这件事情，而是和他在一间房间中讨论，Katherine则在一旁斡旋调停。Maldonado说她见到Katherine后，Katherine说Jermaine拒绝道歉，MJ被深深地伤害了。MJ乞求哥哥收回歌曲，他的歌迷也不会在意的，但是Jermaine的事业就会被毁掉。极其地不明智，Jermaine没有撤掉歌曲，还把完整版本的“Word to the Badd!”放在他的专辑中发行，这张专辑由于其中对MJ污蔑的歌词在商业销量上惨败，Jermaine此后再也没有签到唱片合同。
